Jesus Christ
was born to a virgin named Mary, whom
God chose to give birth to His Son.
(Matthew 1:21)
God sent His
Son into this world to save us from our
sins and from eternity in Hell.
(John 3:16)
During His
lifetime, Jesus preached the Word of God
and healed the sick; He performed many
miracles and had many followers.
Of His most faithful followers were His
twelve disciples. It was one of
these twelve disciples who betrayed Him,
Judas Iscariot, for thirty pieces of
silver.
(Matthew 26:14-15 /
Matthew 26:47-49)
Jesus was
taken before the chief priests and
elders; they sought to put Jesus to
death for claiming to be the Son of God.
(Matthew 26:57-68)
Jesus was
taken to the governor, Pontius Pilate,
who in the end wanted nothing to do with
Jesus' death. Therefore, Pilate
washed his hands of the matter and the
people cried, "Crucify Him! His
blood be on us, and on our children".
(Matthew 27:11-25)
Jesus was
scourged, whipped severely with cords
and whips all over His body; then a
crown of thorns was shoved onto His
head, a robe placed on His severely
wounded back, while the soldiers mocked
Him.
(Matthew 27:26-31)
Jesus was then
made to bear a heavy wooden cross, on
which He was to be crucified. Weak
from the severe beatings of the
soldiers, Jesus was unable to carry the
cross alone, so Simon of Cyrene bore the
cross for Him.
(Matthew 27:32)
Once upon the
hill of Golgotha, Jesus was crucified;
that is to say His hands and feet were
nailed to the cross in severe torture.
(Matthew 27:33-44)
Even through
all of His torment, Jesus still loved us
as He cried out to His Father, "Father,
forgive them; for they know not what
they do".
(Luke 23:33-34)
For about
three hours, darkness fell over the
land, and about the ninth hour, Jesus
cried with a loud voice saying, "My God,
my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?".
(Matthew
27:45-46)
Near the end,
Jesus said, "I thirst", and He was given
drink, and then He said, "It is
finished" ; He bowed His head and gave
up the ghost.
(John 19:28-30)
It is proven
that Jesus Christ gave His life for us
of His own free will in John 10:17-18,
when He said, "Therefore doth my Father
love me, because I lay down my life,
that I might take it again. No man
taketh it from me, but I lay it down of
myself. I have power to lay it
down, and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my
Father". This also proves how much
Jesus loves us by His dying on the cross
for our sins, and when He said, "Greater
love hath no man than this, that a man
lay down his life for his friends".
(John 15:13)
But the story
doesn't end here, for our Lord is risen,
and He lives today.
(Matthew
28:5-6)
Because our
Lord still lives, and because of the
sacrifice He made for us, we can have
eternal life by accepting Him as our
Savior. Jesus said, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me".
(John
14:6)
Have you accepted the Lord
Jesus as your Savior today? If
not, I urge you to seek His face,
believe in Him, and ask Him to come into
your heart. It's never too late to
accept the Lord as your Savior, but we
never know when our time here on earth
will end. Please...don't wait too
long; just place your hand in the
Nail-Scarred Hand.
God Bless
Everyone!
